Nothing kills your electricity bill during the year than using your dryer day in and day out. You don’t have to be destined to use the dryer for the rest of your life, there are other alternatives. Check out some of these ways you can dry your clothes instead of using a traditional dryer.

Black and white clothes hanging in the window.

#1. Drying Rack

If you were to check on Amazon.com today, you would see a whole selection of drying racks. These drying racks are engineered to make drying clothes easy for you. The drying racks typically have several different “racks”, so there’s plenty of room for all of your clothing.

#2. Line Drying

Did you know that the Amish dry their clothing outside year round? If they’re brave enough to do it, so can you! Line drying clothing is preferably done in the summer, but it can also be done in the winter. Most people who don’t feel like braving the cold can hang up a clothing line in their garage or sun room to help keep the line drying effect going all year round.

#3. Using Hangers

One of the best ways to dry your clothing is to use hangers. You can typically buy hangers for fairly cheap and use them time and time again to dry your clothes. Actually, it makes life easier when you’re drying clothes. After the clothes are dry, you can just hang them up in the closet.

#4. Utilize a Fan to Dry Clothes Faster

Most people use a traditional dryer because it helps to dry their clothing faster. If you’re in a hurry to get your clothes dried, try using a fan. Fans take up way less energy than a dryer, but they help to keep the air flowing.

#5. Mobile Clothes Line

Perhaps you live in one of those neighborhoods that look at you a little funny if you use a traditional clothes line in your yard. There are mobile clothes lines that you can take outside when you want to use them and bring them back inside when you’re done. This prevents everyone from giving you that awkward look and you can still utilize the energy saving of line drying.

I’m not going to fabricate it, living without a dryer can be tough, but it’s possible. Try each one of these ways to dry your clothes, instead of using a dryer, and see which one works best for you!
