5 STEPS TO BEING AN ORGANIZED BLOGGER

Create A Schedule:  Whether you blog full time, part time or just on occasion having a schedule is going to make a huge difference.  Set blogging hours for each day, week and month.  Full time bloggers may prefer to work around their kids and spouses schedules, but work a set amount of time each day.  Part time bloggers may do better with setting aside only a few minutes a day but more dedicated time on the weekend.  Whether you choose a number of hours per day or specific hours to work within, it is imperative to set a standard for yourself.

Use Spreadsheets:  While good old fashioned pen and paper work great, spreadsheets are often much easier to read and keep track of.  There are some great blog planners out there that include many of the things my favorite spreadsheets have, and if you are a paper & pen person that might work.  We find the ease of accessing a spreadsheet saved in Google Drive at any time to be better overall.  Figure out what your goals and needs are and create spreadsheets to help you document everything from your income, expenses and contacts to what content you wish to purchase or create.

Use Alarms:  If you find that you get distracted easily by email, social media, television or other things, set yourself alarms to keep you on your toes.  Create a small window of time to dedicate to tasks so you can keep on track.  30 minute alarms are great for most tasks.  Even if you aren’t finished, it gives you a reminder to refocus and get back on track.

Outsource Tasks:  Do you find you spend a lot of time doing things that you just don’t enjoy?  Consider paying someone else to do those things for you.  Things like editing pictures, answering emails, social media scheduling, review posts and even recipe posts can all be outsourced easily to a good virtual assistant.  Check with sites like Elance, Odesk or your fellow blogging friends for recommendations and references.

Treat Blogging Like A Business:  For many individuals blogging is their full time job, yet they don’t treat it like they would a traditional business or job.  If you want to get organized and be serious about your blog you need to start treating it like a business.  Would you lapse on completing projects in a traditional job just because you were tired?  Not likely.  You’d fear the loss of that job.  When it comes to things like reviews, sponsored posts and deadline events you can’t just let them go and do them when you feel like it.  Being organized and treating it like a business means sticking to deadlines.  Create the mindset that this is your business, and you automatically become more organized.

Being an organized blogger comes with dedication, desire and passion to succeed.  Set yourself up for success by following these steps in your business.  Working from home as a blogger is one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have.  Even if you don’t work full time form home as a blogger, these steps can help your part time blogging job into a successful and profitable business.
