I know you all have been there before…. the phone rings and your daughter’s playmate is stopping by to drop off something and your house is a MESS!! Your heart is racing and you can hear your heart beating in your ears. When you look around you see this mornings oatmeal sitting on the table. Toys are everywhere and you see what looks like mud….. no wait maybe it’s….. HOLY COW!! What is that on your living room floor?? This is no time to panic!!! STOP and breath for 30 seconds and re-group. Follow these tips on how to clean your home in 15 minutes.

how to speed clean your home in 15 minutes

Grab your Laundry Basket – Find your largest laundry basket and throw everything in it that is laying around and not in it’s place! Move and throw…. and keep moving. Once you have everything in the laundry basket you can throw it in your bedroom. All those items can be put away later when you have more time.

Wipe Everything Off – Grab a wet rag and some cleaner and do a quick swipe over every available surface that is visible. You are not doing a deep clean here, just a quick once over. Straighten magazines, couch cushions and anything else that seems out of place.

Clean the Floors – Depending on the type of flooring that you have, grab the supplies you need. Quickly go through and either sweep or vaccum the main areas of the room. Don’t worry about moving furniture or anything. You can do that when you have more time. If you are working with a tile floor or one that would require a mop you can just use a wet rag to clean up the obvious spills.

Clean the Bathroom – Inevitably if someone walks into the house they may need to use the restroom. Take anything laying on the floor and throw it into the tub and shut the shower curtain door. Quickly take a cleaner and wipe off all counter tops first, sweep the floor quickly and use the same wet rag and and check the floors for any obvious spots. Lastly you will want to clean the toilet. While you are in there take a few deep breaths and run a brush through your hair and tidy up your make-up.

The last thing you will want to do is clean up your cleaning supplies!! Your guest should be arriving soon and your house should look much better. You have now cleaned your home in 15 minutes!! It may not be the cleanest it has ever been but you should show much improvement. Now your guest can arrive and you will look well put together and you home should look fresh and inviting and you no longer need to be embarrassed.
