I have been using essential oils for years and one of my favorites is the Lavender Essential Oil. If you are new to using essential oils it can be quite overwhelming when figuring out how and when to use them. First off let me start by saying don’t be scared of them. They are from nature and they are not going to hurt you. Now let’s move on to some great uses for Lavender Essential Oil.
Wind Down From a Hard Day – Whether your children are home with you, in school, or in daycare the days can be aweful long and stressful for them. Just think about how tired and cranky you are after a long day and multiply that times 100…… that is how they feel. Place 8-10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil into a diffuser and let the stress melt away! Cuddle up with a book and a blanket and you child will soon fall into a deep comfortable and much needed sleep for the night.
Get Rid of Yucky Smells – You might as well face it. Those beautiful sweet little children of yours can really smell! Place a few drops of Lavender Essential Oil onto a paper towel or better yet a used dryer sheet and place it in their drawers or closet for a wonderful relaxing scent. We did this daily in Charlee Ann’s diaper pail and also in all of our trash cans.
Sooth Minor Burns – As much as we hate to admit it kids do get burned sometimes. If it is a bad burn you obviously need to take them straight to the nearest ER or Prompt Care. If it is small and minor try applying 2-3 drops of Lavender Essential Oils to the affected area.
Better Nights Sleep – Rub a few drops of the essential oil onto the palm of your hands. Then rub your hands all over your child’s pillow right before they go to bed for the night.
Freshen Laundry – Kids can be super sensitive when it comes to the laundry department and alot of times those great smelling laundry scent boosters can play havoc on your child’s skin. Try using a all natural product and placing a few drops of Lavender Essential Oils onto a washcloth and throw in the dryer while you are drying their clothes.
Minimize the Appearance of a Scar – Kids get hurt all the time and nobody wants to see a scar on a child’s perfect skin. Try massaging your Lavender Essential Oil on and around the affected area.
There are a million different ways to use Lavender Essential Oils. Hopefully this list will at least get you started using them in your home. Please feel free to leave your ideas in the comments below.

We love lavender! I use it daily, but I never thought about using it to minimize scarring. Luckily, my two kids don’t have any scars yet, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. Thanks for sharing!
